Introducing Permaculture - a 1 day course

On Saturday September 8th 2018, Simon Watkins (Airton Creative Services) and Charlie Gray of Horton Community Farm, Bradford, will be presenting a 1-day introduction to the increasingly popular way of thinking through design known as permaculture.

***Last few places left!***

Discover how one fascinating idea became a system of design that is helping individuals and communities the world over to find ways of living more sustainably.  Find out how being inspired by the natural world can support and enrich your own plans or designs, in the garden, home or community.

During the day we will explore the history, ethics and principles that define permaculture and see examples of how the ideas have been implemented.  We will look at various project processes and design frameworks useful for implementing permaculture, together with some handy thinking tools, illustrated with practical exercises.  The day will also include an opportunity to take part in a simple design exercise based on a real project.

There are no prerequisites for this course other than a desire to explore ideas in friendly and open environment.  We suggest that it will best suit people who have heard a little about permaculture and would like to know more but have not recently attended a full introductory or permaculture design course.

Based in the attractive environment of Airton Barn at the site of the ancient Airton Friends Meeting House, the course will run from 10am to 5pm.  Morning/afternoon refreshments and a simple lunch are included in the fees, with the option to stay for an evening social for £5 to include an evening meal and 'bring & share' entertainment.  If you're travelling from any distance and want to make a weekend of it, low cost accommodation is available in the Barn for either the night before or after - go to the Airton Barn website linked above, or contact Simon separately via airtonbarn@gmail.com.

Prices are £40 full / £20 for low-income/unwaged.  Use the form below to express interest.
